Cross post and Items of Interest

I don't blog often enough to cause any of you to notice my absence last week, but there was a reason for it.  Bev and I took the kids to Disney World...aka Mickey World...aka Mickey's house - you get the idea.  What a trip.  I posted some things about it on my family photo blog if you are interested.

Also, my RSS reader of choice these days, Google Reader, has added a pretty neat feature that I can see myself using quite a bit.  I already have an "Items of Interest" section on the right hand side of this blog that includes items that I share out of my feed list.  Well, now they allow me to add comments to items that I share, and to share from anywhere (not just from sites on my feed list).  You can see all of my shared items, including the comments by going here.  It looks like a pretty neat way to provide quick commentary on things I probably would not normally blog about.

John McCain is WRONG

Ohmagosh.  I can't believe the following quote by John McCain in this article:

"America is supposed to help people in rural settings, people like the quilters who are direct descendants of slaves," McCain said. "It's 'give people a hand up.' That's the essence of government."

Ok, this just wears me out.  I could go on and on.  Heck, I will go on and on a bit...

First, something that my buddy John Thomas said about this - "if that's not the worldview of a quasi-socialist liberal, I don't know what is"

Amen, JT.  Amen.

Mr. McCain, you are completely WRONG!!  The role of government is not to help people, even if they are descendents of slaves.  Who the heck cares who they are descendents of anyway!  IT IS NOT THE ROLE OF GOVERNMENT TO HELP PEOPLE AT ALL!!!

Our government was created so that everyone would have equal opportunities WITHOUT THE GOVERNMENT INTERFERING.  How can you STEAL from one person to help another and call that a good thing?  You are directly interfering with the "rich" person's liberty to spend HIS MONEY as HE CHOOSES!!

Yep.  I said it - "Liberty".  A word too many of us have forgotten.  Here's another term - "Pursuit of Happiness".  Seems like those are terms in a fairly important document of our country.  Seems no one cares about them any more.

I'm more than happy to give to the poor through various charitable donations and services.  I don't need the government to do it for me!!

I've said this before and I'll say it again - John McCain, Barak Obama, and Hillary Clinton are all the same.  None of them are conservative.  If anyone doubted me before, I don't think you can now.

Voting third party as a protest vote is looking better and better.  Let's see how things shake out in those parties.  Constitution Party is looking pretty good right now.  I'll have more on that as details progress.
